Game Of thrones: length of eight is bad news for fans

It might be winter here in Canada but if your like us then it's felt like an eternal drought waiting for the next season of Game Of Thrones.

However with the release of the season seven teaser last week it seemed like things were finally looking up, sadly though we've now learned that this is going to be one short winter!

While taking part in a panel hosted by Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner at this years South by Southwest festival, Show runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed that season eight will be comprised of six episodes.

Benoff stated:

"It's only going to be six episodes for the final season, from the beginning we’ve wanted to tell a 70-hour movie. It will turn out to be a 73-hour movie, but it’s stayed relatively the same of having the beginning, middle and now we’re coming to the end. It would have been really tough if we lost any core cast members along the way, I’m very happy we’ve kept everyone and we get to finish it the way we want to.”

With thirteen episodes remaining to wrap up the hit HBO series we can't help but wonder if this will give them enough time and with the arrival of The Great War are any fan favorites truly safe in the seven kingdoms?

Let us know in the comments who you think will reign from the iron throne once the dust has settled on season eight, and remember to follow us at CanGeek.com.
